Appaloosa Festival Press Release: August 22, 2017

08.22.2017 -

Washington, D.C. band, Scythian is set to host their very own Roots Music Festival: Appaloosa. Labor Day Weekend, September 1-3, 2017, on the scenic Skyline Ranch Resort in Front Royal, VA, - just one hour from D.C. - the 3rd Annual Appaloosa will feature rising stars in Bluegrass, Americana, Folk, Celtic, and more. 2017 headliners include Scythian, Eddie From Ohio, Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen, and Humming House. In 2016, the festival drew over 5,800 people from across the country, with renowned D.C. music venue – The Hamilton – as the main stage sponsor.

This year, Appaloosa looks to be even better, with The Hamilton returning as a sponsor, and a lineup featuring renowned Grammy Award winners, and the most critically acclaimed emerging artists from around the country – all in a stunning location nestled under the arms of Virginia’s iconic Blue Ridge Mountains. Skyline Ranch is located just a few miles from the main entrance to Shenandoah National Park with rafting, hiking, biking, and wineries nearby.

Appaloosa will feature over 20 bands on 3 stages, free music workshops throughout the weekend, exclusive late night music jams with headliners, on-site camping, cabins, local food and craft vendors, a kids zone, and a beer garden featuring Starr Hill Craft Beer, Bold Rock Cider, and award-winning Rappahannock Cellars wine.

In addition to great music, food, and drink, Appaloosa has made a name as a great family outing. Kids 12 and under go free, there are "family packages" to make it more affordable for large families, and the Heritage School gives children a chance to encounter music at close quarters, with workshops hosted by festival headliners. Horseback riding, a petting zoo, fishing pond, playground, mini-golf, and much more are available to young and old alike.

The Appaloosa community gives back: 10% of profits go to charity, with beneficiaries including the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 1860 in Front Royal, VA, and the Appaloosa Blue Ridge Arts Foundation (ABRAF). As well, active duty military, and veterans receive festival discounts.
